Who We Are
Jill Amoroso is a Clinical Nurse Specialist at a southwest academic medical and health science center, but in 2017 while working as a transport nurse, Jill found herself frustrated with the constant need to reorganize IV lines and cords. Jill had an innovative solution and simply asked “how does a nurse invent something”? She was encouraged to apply for an innovation grant through the Center for Innovation, and excitingly was selected as the first nurse led innovation project in the organization through this program. This grant award allowed Jill a year to systematically develop a prototype of a securement tool that would keep a grouping of IV lines and monitor cords organized throughout the transportation cycle of a critical care patient. A study was conducted to explore the correlation between the utilization of the prototype to manual or accidental disconnections of lines and cords during patient transportation, and nurses’ perception of efficiency, compared to current practice. Jill embarked on the journey to establish her own company in partnership with her husband Nick, and was granted a license agreement through the Mayo Clinic Employee Entrepreneurship Program.
In 2022, the line securement project was selected as an exemplar in nursing innovation for ANCC Magnet redesignation at Mayo Clinic Arizona and Jill was selected as an awardee of the 2022 Pamela Jane Nye Novice Innovator CNS Scholarship. Most recently, Jill’s company Assure Innovations, LLC was invited to be part of the American Nurses Association (ANA) Nurse Led Innovation Area at the 2024 ANCC National Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Conference.
